Not Another Team. A Pathway for the Individual Player.

Five development schools, four experience levels, and a long-term record of progress — how Flemington Footy Academy actually develops players.

A Simple, Repeatable Process

Players keep their current club or school team. FFA adds the individual development that team practices often cannot.

Assess

We identify the player's current level

We identify the player's current strengths, experience level, and most important next step.

Develop

Focused technical schools

The player trains through focused technical schools with challenges adjusted to their age and experience.

Progress

Tracked and reviewed

Coaches track improvement, update the Player Passport, and determine when the player is ready for the next shirt level.

What Players Actually Train

Each training block has a primary school of focus, but sessions may combine related skills. This gives players enough repetition to master important techniques without requiring families to attend a different class for every topic.

Training Shirts & the Development Pathway

Training-shirt colors represent a player's current experience and developmental support level. They are not age groups, membership packages, social ranks, or permanent labels. They help coaches quickly identify how much instruction a player may need, keep sessions appropriately challenging, and make progress visible and motivating.

Players do not move up simply because they get older. Progression is based on demonstrated development, consistency, coach evaluation, and readiness for the next challenge. A shirt level is a coaching tool — not a judgment of a player's potential. Placement and advancement are based on coach assessment and the player's overall development, never on how much a family pays.

How Evaluation Works

Initial Placement

New players self-describe their experience as Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced on the contact form. This is for initial placement only — a coach observes the player before assigning a training shirt.

Next Shirt Level

When a player consistently demonstrates the next level's standard, the coach updates their shirt level and Player Passport.

The Player Passport

The Player Passport is the player's long-term development record — available digitally and in print, and built out as each player progresses.

Players Learn to Own Their Development

Development should not end when training finishes. Players learn how to set a goal, build simple habits, reflect honestly, and take responsibility for their next step. Younger players use short challenges and coach guidance. Older players gradually become more independent.

  1. Define the kind of player they want to become.
  2. Set a meaningful long-term target.
  3. Choose small daily or weekly habits.
  4. Track personal records.
  5. Reflect on what went well and what needs work.
  6. Adjust their next objective with a coach.

The Right Room for the Right Age

Age determines the appropriate class environment. Experience level determines coaching support, difficulty, constraints, speed, expected independence, and training-shirt level.
